are you sure you're going to heaven?
Statistics tell us that 100% of people alive today will die sometime in their lifetime. Are you ready? What if you were to die today, would you go to heaven?
Are you sure?
What if you did die, and stood before God and He asked you,
“Why should I allow you into My heaven?”’
What would you say?
Many people might say:
“Because I’m a good person.”
“I go to church.”
“I don’t steal.”
“I’m religious.” Or
“My good works (deeds) out-weigh my bad deeds.”
But no matter how hard we try or how good we are, we fall short of God’s holy standard.
We are sinners.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
When we hate, lie, steal, lust, use God’s name in vain, etc. the Bible calls that sin. Our sin causes a separation between us and God. God, being holy and just, cannot look upon sin, rather, must punish sin.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death,…”
The Bible says that by sinning we have earned death. That means we deserve to die and be separated from God forever in hell.
So, since there is no way you could come to God on your own, the Bible says that God came to you.
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
You see, God came to earth as a man (Jesus Christ) and took the penalty that we deserved for our sin, placed it on Himself and died in our place. Three days later Christ came back to life to prove that sin and death had been conquered and that His claims to be God were true.
1 Corinthians 5:21 “He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin, to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”
Why would God do that for us, for you?
God loves you and doesn’t want you to be separated from Him.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This is God’s gift to you, His Grace (undeserved favor).
Ephesians 2:8, 9 “For by grace you have been saved (delivered from the penalty of your sin) through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Salvation comes, not by your good deeds but through faith in Jesus Christ, trusting in Him alone to forgive you of your sins and give you eternal life.
There is nothing more important than your need to trust Christ.
Is there anything keeping you from trusting Christ as your Savior right now?
Would you like to tell God you are trusting Jesus Christ as your Savior? You can pray right now and tell God you are trusting His Son for your salvation. But remember, it’s not a prayer that saves you. It is trusting Jesus Christ alone that saves you. Christ wants you to repent (turn from your sinful lifestyle) and follow Him.
“Dear God, I know I’m a sinner. I know my sin deserves to be punished. I believe Christ died for me and rose from the grave. I trust Jesus Christ alone as my Savior and repent of my sins. Thank you for the forgiveness and everlasting life I now have. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Did you pray that prayer?
Do you want to talk further about your decision to follow Christ?
Please find one of the elders or deacons; they would love to talk to you further about your decision.
In John 5:24, Jesus says “He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
